To honor and fulfill the legacy of Rafael Bejarano Rangel of bringing empowerment, education, and transformation to all people through music, laughter and compassion, and to help re-awaken waning or lost indigenous traditions and support their sustainability and survival through the youth of the world.
We accomplish our mission by enrolling the support and voices of Chicken-Shit’s (ie. those who need to believe in themselves more, even if it’s just at certain times with certain people, and who would benefit from taking stock of the gifts and talents they posses that the world is hungry for, and then sharing accordingly.)
The rubber chicken (which Rafael always painted a heart on, and that he lovingly called, “Chicken Shit”) was Rafael’s totem animal not jest but in earnest of Heart. He not only carried his rubber totem with him but he was known to give out miniature totems to people he met everywhere around the world, inviting them to embrace their own chicken-shit - just as he did his. In this way Rafael brought humor to his deep healing and transformational work, and inspired countless lives.
We see a world where each individual is empowered of him or herself to dream the impossible dream and to with heart and wisdom go forth to achieve it for the good of humankind and mother earth. We seek to support Rafael’s Vision to share the traditional practices of the indigenous communities and build collaboration between indigenous communities worldwide.
We are all Chicken-Shits on some level (some big, some small). There is “something” we are each afraid of – especially when it comes to receiving what it is that we truly desire, or stepping into what we are called to create, be or do.
The Chicken-Shit Foundation was created first to honor the Man with the vision and courage to call himself, and each one of us, out on our little “chicken shit” –that piece of us that holds us back from sharing our light and inner calling with the world. Rafael Bejarano was the self-proclaimed Master Chief Chicken Shit, and we are inspired by his example, authenticity, vulnerability, courage and humor!
And secondly, to fulfill Rafael’s Vision of building the first high school for the Huichols, which is the indigenous tribe he was trained by as a Shaman, and where he invested himself to learn the “ways” of one who walks the planet with Grace, Child-Like Innocence, Inner Wisdom and Love.
Thirdly, we are in service to fulfilling Rafael's legacy to serve individuals and children in the places he most loved and traveled to, and supporting the projects he most cared about.
